Real Racing 3 by Firemonkeys and EA is one of the best racing games out there for iOS. The fact it comes as a free download with in-app purchases frustrates some - myself included - but it has at least opened up the opportunity to play to many, many more.

The Good Real Racing 3 improves upon a great racing-game franchise, with beautiful graphics, lifelike physics, upgradable cars, and real-world tracks. The Bad The freemium model
Real Racing is a damn good Simcade. The driving it the best on mobile by far, but you're still constrained by the fact that you have no fine control of your braking and acceleration. The amount of F2P BS in RR3 is also a damn shame.
Real Racing 3 is the first game to come from the newly formed Firemonkeys, bringing with it a new freemium model that may well be the downfall of an otherwise excellent game. Cars and Events Real Racing 3 looks as stunning as ever and graphics are among the best we've seen on a mobile racer. Real Racing 3 doesn't do a good job of convincing you of this. Real Racing 3 certainly pushes the racing genre forward on mobile significantly: it's technically astounding, each race feels like it matters, and the social hooks that are in here keep you playing for the long haul. Hell, even the soundtrack is great.
According to me there's no good racing game for mobile, which is a big reason why Real Racing 3 has still survived. You can try out Grid Autosport, but it's a paid game and doesn't have multiplayer. Assoluto Racing is decent, has some good cars and the Nurburgring Nordschleife. But it's more of a time trial game because the AI are shit.
Freemium issues aside Real Racing 3 is still definitely worth playing, if for nothing else than the stunning visuals and great handling that makes it a triple-A mobile game.
